What I took away from this is not to be too afraid or proud to ask for help. So far in my career I've done the majority of my work out of the US, going on my 4th country right now, yet I still find it more scary to move to LA than to move to a different country.
I'm thinking of returning next year to the US to work, and this made me think I shouldn't be afraid or too proud to ask for help from my friends there.

Thanks for sharing your adventure in this time of great change. Courage. You've shown a lot so far, and you'll need more as you guide your career and life forward.

The best career advice I know to give is to be entrepreneurial about guiding your own career. That goes for staffers as well as independents, because nobody cares about you as much!

A part of that is recognizing that businesses exist to make money, not to give people jobs. The jobs are the by-product of the pursuit of profit. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be fairly compensated, just that the best job security in the world is to always make your employer more than you cost.

I wish you every success in your new LA adventure. I hope you realize great success. Life is full of twists and turns, and rarely ends up exactly as we imagined it...but nevertheless can be pretty darn good.
