Ok,

So many new toys out already and it is still more than a week away from the Big Show.

Sony announced on April 1st that they were releasing the next gen NEX-FS700, with up to 120 fps for Highspeed / slomo acquisition at 1080p and a 4K size sensor with 3G HDSDI (so 444 or Dual Link workflows). http://engt.co/HH4FNp

Band Pro annouces a new EVF for Sony Cameras http://bit.ly/HbtvYA and a commitment to supporting Alexa, RED and other camera models in the future. For many of you, having the luxury of replacing your EVF is not an option, but to some of us, the ability to have higher rez or better refresh rates outweigh the cost and added weight.

Thunderbolt tools are arriving ElGato is now shipping a TB bus powered SSD module in 120 and 240G models. These are the first of the TB generation that support TB power and do not require an external power supply. http://bit.ly/H6auTM and now that Tektronics http://mwne.ws/H6aPWr has started shipping TB occilscopes and test gear, there should be many more TB solutions to come

And the announcements from Atto for the 'Desklink' range of products which will provide Thunderbolt adapters for 10GigE, eSATA, SAS, and fibre channel. There may also be new devices from BMD and Aja for Video I/O. Someone may even show a DDR capable of 2k/4k record/playback. An Alexa with Thunderbolt capable of 4k log recorded as ProRes 4444, perhaps.

Maybe we won't need PCIe any more. Maybe Apple might steal the party and make some surprise announcement or presentation like last year.

I just checked the plan. BMD is right up front in the South Hall this year. The same place which housed the oversized Apple stall a few years ago. And, Quantel, Filmlight, Autodesk stalls have shrunk considerably.

Yet another 'interesting' NAB beckons. See you there.

Very True on many accounts my friend.

There are already fibre and 10gE via TB devices, I use a San Link from Promise, who will also should be showing a couple of surpises also.

See you at the show and thank you again for the tour and snack in Mumbai.
