I thought it would be good to have funny content geared toward women in one spot. It looks like a lot of web humor is more guy oriented. Does not hurt to support female comedians, writers, humorists and producers either.
There's a social network too if you want to check it out. Click "Network!" in the nav bar. Please take a look, let me know what you think, join the network and pass it on!
Published this sucker this weekend and I still have a lot of work to do, but hopefully you will get the idea. Suggestions always appreciated.
this is in response to shane ross, who if you don't know, is a leader for FCP users here and several other major websites. he posted in my previous blog
I agree that FCP can work very very well but let me ask you the following questions:
Do your computer run on more than a gig of ram, a lot of the ones I work on at the computer labs I work at do not which is a problem.
Are your computers built and run to just do that kind of work, or do you have people doing flash, photo editing, scanning, script writing, fcp editing, dvd creation, etc on them?
I also wrote this a bit bitter about a lot of my day so it's pretty negative. And i'd be lieing if i said I didn't love it many times. but there are so many odd quirks and things that it's just hard to deal with some times.
So I have set my sites on jobs when I graduate. It's pretty clear I'm not going to be inducted to the orphanage as their newest lead compositor straight out of college, not that it hurts to dream mind you, but it certainly hurts to expect such things. So I've been focusing on a much more realistic vacancy: Roto Artist.
a blog is really a "blahhh-g" unless you, the blogger, are a brand with valued equity. the blogger must be someone or something that has relevance to the world as a whole, validated by entities greater than blogger themself. otherwise that blog & the blogger are just part of the missing ozone in the blogosphere.
Here's a thought, what comes after the blog/blog?
It should also be noted that no one will read this blog... for now!
In this day and age many pundits criticize the public for not sacrificing certain aspects of their lives for the preservation of life as we understand it. Pundits also criticize the government for not asking people to help constrict the world's voracious appetite for all things that keep us comfy and cozy. Oil, water, food, medicine, natural resources, energy and all of the natural driving forces of these times for some of which we have a finite supply. Since I am now joining the "punditry" by writing here and pretending I know something about something, I'd like to shout out my concerns and criticisms and ask for sacrifice.
It is a well known fact that falling in love is bad for your knees! But after a fall you also need to go searching for stones. Since I am too bruised (pronounced as broke) to buy such stones, I decided to make one myself and as usual Cinema4D is my knight in shining armour. So folks, here it is:
Happily, my better half loved it, even though she can't wear it! Thanks Cinema4D for making up for all those missed anniversaries and birthdays! Hopefully when I get time during the weekend I will post some workflow checkshots. Have a great weekend!
This is my first Blog ever! And creative cow rocks. Many thanks to creativecow and the great team behind it. After effects and Cinema 4D - I have learnt from the many podcasts, posts and tutorials on this site. So, I start with a recent model that I did.
I guess its better late than never to start a blog. I hope to use this platform to share my work and tricks that I have learnt over the last few years, All thanks to creativecow!
I am sure, 2008 is going to be a rocking year and we will have a great time - so this watch!
This is an edit of my post yesterday, noting the newest new interface. We think we're getting warmer. As The Cow's major redesign continues, there will be another tweak or two along the way.
One more update: following your requests, we're definitely working on adding support for YouTube, SWF, and more.
Note for you text entry folks: that box very slightly overlaps with the right nav, but you'll see that it doesn't get in the way of actually entering the text.
Hello! First and Foremost my name is NOT Martin McTiller, but Martin Tiller. Something got written down wrong in the sign up phase. Although admittedly there is some Scottish/Irish from my mother's side. Tiller is Welsh, Ibelieve.
I've made no secret that I think Fake Steve Jobs has the funniest blog on the web, and that he's also a consistently outstanding (and entertaining) source of Apple news and commentary, and uncannily accurate predictions.
Today, he unmasked himself as Dan Lyons, a senior editor at Forbes who lives in the Boston area. As that article notes, he was contacted by the New York Times' Brad Stone, who'd noted strong similarities with the blog Lyons keeps at Forbes.
From Fake Steve Jobs, who remains the absolute best resource for Apple information, and by far the funniest blog on the web:
The nice folks at Sugarcat Cakes sent along this photo of their latest cake creation. They call it the Jesus Cake. Feeds a whole party of hungry geeks, but alas, you can't remove the battery.
Google's official blog is a must read. Period. I say that Google is on its way to becoming the most important software company on the planet. Even if they turn out not to win every fight, they're setting the terms of the fight. Making every game a home game tilts the odds in your favor. So if you want to see what's coming, here's where you look.
This is part one of a probable three part post. It's mainly a rant on hardware issues I've had the last couple of months.
The Lappy:
I won't mention the manufacturer other than to say it's not a Dell or an Apple laptop. From what I've read on forums and review sites, this laptop is overall in the 85-90 out of 100 group for cost/performance, yadda yadda.
I mean real beginners. If you have been blogging longer than a week or so please move along there is nothing for you here, you already know this stuff.
Actually I've been blogging a lot longer than a week. But all the blogs I have built in the past have essentially been marketing fluff - blogs designed to promote the idea that you are a great company staffed by real people who care about the same things as your clients do.
I'm SURE I read that headline somewhere else, but I can't for the life of me remember where. Anyway, this is a very cool Google service that Nora pointed me to. They've just launched in beta form what I think is their very coolest search tool yet: Google Translate.
There were a couple of (wholly legitimate) nits I had to pick with Apple's green announcement, but here's something I totally missed until Jason O'Grady pointed it out: Apple also divulged a technology advancement currently in development – LED backlight technology. (His emphasis.)
I always thought IMDB was nothing more than a huge listing of people and movies, cross-referenced ad infinitum. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon +Ask a Filmmaker+. Very cool feature.
Before I get any questioning looks or inquiries, yes, Sterling Glass is my real name. After getting carded at FedEx a billion times for being mistaken for a business, my first video-based website was titled RealNameFilms.com. I was, and still am, surprised that it wasn't snagged up already. I thought that a group of enterprising young filmmakers that wanted to show Hollywood up and not use stage names would've thought of it first.
Hacking was a term originally coined at MIT to descrive such classic pranks as emptying the deans office and reassembling it -- complete with rug -- in the middle of the frozen Charles River. (That illegal software thing is more properly called "cracking.") Hacking Apple TV is an entirely legal activity that makes it truly useful, starting with a bigger hard drive -- child's play for anyone reading this.
The 150 or so of you I've added in the past couple of days may have noticed that the comments weren't working right for you. They're working for everyone now.
