Using YouTube Retention Data to Edit for the Web
By: Kylee Wall on May 10, 2012 at 9:22:24 am

Today, I was checking on some video analytics for a client's YouTube account. I manage the postings for the account, and use the data to develop stronger videos as time goes on. YouTube recently redesigned their analytics dashboard (again), and one of the changes was the addition of "Audience Retention." This feature kind of existed before as "Hot Spots." Hot Spots compared your video to other videos across YouTube of similar length, and showed you a relative graph of how much of your audience you were retaining relative to the other videos. The graph would show you peaks and valleys...

The Progenitor of Processes and Statistics
By: Peter John Ross on Dec 5, 2010 at 1:05:27 pm

I’m doing an experiment with this new web series. We already met our goal of 1,000 views on YouTube for the first video. I wanted to put the emphasis on the YouTube videos just because the quality has vastly improved on this site in the last 2 years compared to where they were in 2008. It’s just the main site where most people on the planet find videos. As much as I prefer VIMEO even for quality, it just has a fraction the number of videos and people, plus their limitations on uploads and bandwidth just don’t make it the...

Confirmed, broadcasting as we know it is dying.
By: Peter Wiggins on Mar 15, 2010 at 10:15:51 am

All, I think we have all known for a while that broadcasting as we know it is dying. People now have many ways to access media these days, catch-up on demand services, streaming on websites etc etc. However for me last night this was well and truly proved when I was watching an instructional video on YouTube on how to do complicated things on YouTube. What was so earth shattering about that I hear you say? It was written, presented & uploaded by an eight year old. Peter...

Footastic Theatre - A Study in Web Video Production
By: Jacki Schklar on Aug 30, 2008 at 1:57:07 pm

http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/43a40d1427 Above is the link for the first two episodes in my weird little new web series, Footastic Theatre. This is a study in producing for web as opposed to producing for video and encoding down to share. The premise is really short amusing engaging scenerios. Video crack. Watch one and you need more and you want to see them over and over. That s what I m working toward. We are showing only the feet of the talent. Why? Web video is best with close-ups and all headshots are not that exciting to me. It was rediculously easy to...

Introduction
By: Peter Berghammer on May 7, 2007 at 11:11:58 am

Before I begin my foray into the world of blogging I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Ron & Tim for their efforts in getting me situated with the Cow. I look forward to the many blogs ahead and hope that some of you may find the information at least useful, and at best challenging. Although I have a fairly broad portfolio in the areas I write about, and areas researched, I believe that there are always some common factors or themes that run throughout the electronics, entertainment, tech, legal and economic communities - and the way in which...

By: Aanarav Sareen on Mar 22, 2007 at 9:15:03 am

YouTube announced that it will be handing out awards to some of the more popular videos posted on it s site. Because of its success, it is a surprise that it took so long for someone to organize such an event. Read CNN Story Now, this is content-generation and social-networking at its best.
