Multimedia Training
By: Mike Cohen on Nov 9, 2010 at 3:49:01 pm
We are working on an update to a web-based multimedia training program for surgeons. After many months of in-depth review by subject matter experts, it is now time to make the updates in Flash CS4 for launch in 2011. Each multimedia project has its own unique workflow. In this particular case, we start with the revised script. Send out the new narration for recording, and update the Flash content with new audio, new on-screen text and perhaps some new or rearranged pages of content. Next, as project manager, I review the initial Flash draft against the script and identify other...

The uncomfortable pusher
By: Fernando Mol on Jun 7, 2010 at 11:54:25 pm
Today I read an article on apple.com about why their new devices will not support Flash. It's really a hard work for web designers and developers to complain to different standards. Now, the fact that we need to re-work on many flash based sites just because the CEO of the company can't see the content in his new iPhone it's not nice at all. So my first reaction to Steve Jobs was "don't do this, man, I was just about finishing this project". But after reading the article I found out that, as usually, what apple is doing is bigger...

Apple iPad Luster is waning without Flash support.
By: walter biscardi on May 30, 2010 at 6:11:01 pm
Note: part of this entry appeared in a previous blog entry. Let's just say my opinions have been changed..... Why did I purchase this? I took delivery of the 16GB Wi-Fi Apple iPad in April. No, I did not wait in line, I took the leisurely deliver it to my front door method. I guess waiting in line could have been fun hanging with the crowd, but that's ok. It got here. No, I'm not typing this blog on the iPad. This is still easier on the laptop. I'm generally not an early adapter. When the iPhone first came out,...

Keeping Flash Alive
By: Joshua Altman on Feb 27, 2010 at 3:54:49 pm
Earlier today, Mashable released a user poll , where 61% of readers chose HTML5 , and 28% of readers chose Adobe Flash as a future web platform. Keeping in mind that Mashable readers are a select group, this poll gives a lot of reason to be concern since the Mashable readers are going to be some of the people determining the future of the web. Personally, I have no preference to HTML5 or Flash (yet), I am self-taught in the current web standards and in Flash, so my personal concern is what am I going to need to learn after...

Custom Classes in Flash: Tweener and XML2Object
By: Pieter Helsen on Jun 18, 2008 at 5:02:06 pm
When you're working on a project, time is almost always working against you. That is why I rely on classes for my projects. Classes in its most basic definition are a set of reusable functions or methods. The keyword here being reusable of course. A good class can be applied and reapplied and because of this, is a huge time saver. However, I'm not going to talk to you about Object-Oriented Programming or how to create your own custom classes in Actionscript. I -am- going to talk to you about classes that are already out there and that you can...

Apple buying Adobe? Again.
By: Tim Wilson on Jan 14, 2008 at 6:12:04 am
Robert Cringely is one of the higher profile tech pundits, and like all pundits, is only barely credible based on predictions coming to pass. But he brings up again the possibility of Apple buying Adobe . Actually, he says flat out it s going to happen. His reasons are a teensy bit more interesting this time, plus inside sources, but I wasn t persuaded before and I m not now. He uses the Final Touch acquisition as an example of Apple s commitment to pro apps, and it is...but Final Touch wasn t a $36 billion purchase, as Adobe is...

Internet Killed the Video Star
By: Aharon Rabinowitz on Jan 10, 2008 at 7:41:48 am
Hi everyone - I ve been pretty silent for the last few months because I ve been hard at work on a new Creative Cow Master Series DVD - Internet Killed the Video Star: A guide to Creating Video for the Web. The 4.5 hour DVD will be available very shortly. Feel free to spread the word. Here s the basic description of the DVD: Whether you’re posting video for a client, putting your demo reel on-line, creating a video podcast, or building video training for the web, the Internet is conspiring to keep your work from looking its best....

Post-NAB thoughts and musings - PART 1
By: Paul Escandon on Apr 20, 2007 at 10:46:06 pm
I returned back home from Las Vegas and NAB on Tuesday night after spending 2 1/2 days in the City of Sin, my last few hours being spent at the wonderful Hofbräuhaus next to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino where I, along with coworkers and friends, downed their great tasting German lager out of ridiculously massive 1 liter glass steins while enjoying what I have to imagine is "classic" Bavarian folk music. After having a few days back home to digest what I saw and learned (not to mention playing catch up on the current show I'm editing for...
