Hello,
This is my first attempt at a blog post, so be kind....
I just wanted to share a really cool experience I recently had using avid Liquid....for Broadcast use.
Now Avid doesn't really show Broadcast on thir splash screen much to my dismay, so of course I try to have the application open before the client arrives and pray that it won't crash and make me restart. I wouldn't want my Broadcast clients seeing the wedding splash screen (I intend on changing the splash screen and posting how to do that in a later installment).
So material was captured from BetaSP and transferred into Avid Liquid 7. Liquid picked up the materiel (Uncompressed YUV) with no hitches or hickups and played it back beautifully on my system (Dual 3.2GHZ Xeons).
I used an uncompressed timeline to edit and composite. All shots, or almost all shots were shot on a green screen. There was a decent amount of spill, but the Commotion plugs that ship with Liquid 7 were well up to the task. Renders were not short for the 15 minute project, but equally as quick as I would expect if I had done the project in After Effects.
I fused out an uncompressed finished product (After my sound guy had tweaked all sound using another program.....ahem, Vegas....) and was very happy with the finished product on BetaSP.
Having this type of set-up has enabled me to compete for jobs on systems that cost more than double, allowing me to keep my pricing reasonable, whilst giving my client the quality that they should expect from me.
More to come.
