First book to cover the covergence of AV+IT

As our industry continues to move into IT centric AV solutions, this book outlines the salient features of the "tapeless" workflow model. In fact, tapeless is not the best way to describe our new world. File-based workflows is a better choice since tape is often used for data archive. The book has 12 chapters covering the basics of AV+IT file-based systems, storage, networking, reliability/scalability, security, systems integration and a summary chapter on the basics of pure AV technology and more. All chapters are written with AV+IT convergence as a focus. It has received many 5 star Amazon reviews. If you work building or maintaining video systems then this book would be the ideal reference for you. See www.theAVITbook.com for more info.

Thanks Ron!

Ron Did you find the photo? Good work. I work at Avid for my day job and over the past 15 years have learned the ropes of the AV/IT world. I am researching for Edition 2 of the book since technology changes so rapidly. The book has done well as technical books go. When it was released it was the #1 best seller at the NAB 06 and IBC 06 bookstores. I continue to mine the web and industry contacts for the latest info for Ed 2 although the current book is still quite fresh in terms of technology and concepts. Cheers Al

Thanks for coming in and telling us about your new book. This is a timely subject and I am sure that many people will benefit from this one. It doesn't surprise me that Focal Press would release something like this, as I once told their team: "You guys and gals make the books that deal with issues other publishers won't touch because the subject matter is deeper and isn't always going to sell as many books as a rewrite of the Final Cut users manual."

This is a needed guide for many and I hope you sell a pile of them, Al.
