According to a newspaper article in today's Atlanta Journal Constitution, a security group claims the iPhone can be easily hacked to retrieve personal information. According to the article:
A team of computer security consultants say they have found a flaw in Apple's popular new iPhone that allows them to take control of the device.
The researchers, working for Independent Security Evaluators, a company that tests its clients' computer security by hacking it, said that they could take control of iPhones through a WiFi connection or by tricking users into going to a Web site that contains malicious code. The hack, the first reported, allowed them to tap the wealth of personal information the phones contain.
Later in the article, they mention that once the security hole was found, they were able to take complete control of the phone. Interesting news and I'll be curious to see what Apple's response will be. Full article here:

Wow! That was a quick
Wow! That was a quick response to this morning's news. I just heard it on the radio while driving into work a few minutes ago.
Yet, another reason for a good ole cell phone...
Reminds me of Battlestar Galactica
On the current BSG series, the old Galactica uses antiquated phones and non-networked computers to keep the Cylons out of their systems. Perhaps 20 years from now we'll be back to using payphones and telephone modems. I still have my 1200 baud modem somewhere!
It wasn't quick, it's this way on EVERY phone...
You can hack any cellphone. There are multiple ways to do it, too.
I kind of chuckled at this as it strikes me of more of the same kind of rhetoric that ensues whenever Apple does anything, certain people will always point to it as "not new," "not any big deal," "second rate," and "done without anything except marketing smoke and mirrors."
I know a guy who can hack into MAJOR corporate websites and get into their most secret inner workings in minutes. Literally minutes. It's the way things are when you have a generation that has been raised on computers from almost birth. ;o)
Anyone who thinks that any computer, even a desktop Mac, is safe from hackers is smoking crack. Some are "safer" than others but none are really safe.
Best regards,
