This is the first post so I guess an introduction is in order...
My name is Tim Rice and I have been involved with video production for almost 20 years now. Hard to believe. I've worked mostly in television and now am the Senior Producer in Creative Services at WLTX in Columbia, South Carolina.
Love my job; great group of people there but more importantly (and reason for this blog), I have started my own media production company, Thrice Creative. I have never started a business or ran a business so I am learning along the way. I have barely even freelanced but I started a year ago or so and am picking up more and more jobs so I decided to start a company. I'm doing it part time out of my house right now but will grow the business.
I thought it would be interesting to blog about my experiences in starting and running a business and I'm inviting you along on this adventure; my successes, my mistakes and, hopefully, offer some good advice along the way! I certainly need some help!
What is my business? Well, good question. Right now it's anything and everything related to video and website production. I do know what I want to focus my business on but am choosing for right now to remain very broad so I can get my reputation built in the market. Once I have a reputation for being trustworthy, dependable and doing outstanding work (and I have the confidence) then I can start turning down the work that doesn't align with my focus. I’m eventually going to focus my business on website design and marketing. There are a lot of businesses in the market with websites but don’t know what to do with them. That’s where Thrice Creative will come in. We can design and host your website and design a plan to generate business from it.
