The customer was using sparse disk images (created via disk utility) to encapsulate projects and events folders into one "thing" they could easily move around. All of these disk images were kept on their Small Tree ST-RAID and then mounted via a double click onto their desktop.
With this scenario, they could have many projects open and they could share them easily with other users (they could even send them to remote editors).
There was one bug... If they mounted more than one disk image, and those images were "large", one of them would disappear. We went through several permutations of this.
Here's the answer: DO NOT copy disk image projects (or even project directories) with the Finder! If you do, you will have duplicate Project IDs and FCPX will get confused and drop one of them. Always copy projects from within FCPX using "Duplicate". With that change, things should work a lot better. | | | | |
