Creative COW has now added a large section of the website just for your Demo Reels.
If your Demo Reel is encoded using H.264 or FLV and is 900 pixels wide or less your video will be untouched by our system to ensure the quality you originally desired when you rendered your Demo Reel. There are many reels so far in the collection that have utilized this devotion to quality that is a mainstay at Creative COW.
Creative COW is going global on a new level with the introduction of the new translated versions of the Creative COW website.
The automatic translator is utilizing a portion of Google's translation software in conjunction with custom filtering and user input to build a translation that is accurate for our industry. This is 1.0 edition and will continue to be refined as more users become involved with their feedback.
Please feel free to contact me with any input you may have about the translation or languages that you would like to see added in the future. Below is a list of the languages in the 1.0 version:
After a request from David Roth Weiss Creative COW users now have the ability to customize the look and content of their Forums Directory list.
Simply go to your COW account Settings and click on the Extra tab to change what you see when you go to the Forums Directory list.
This feature is part of both the design of Creative COW to make the interface customizable and to keep past features available for users who are use to "the way things were".
If you're curious where to choose your favorite forums, go to the bottom of the Profile tab in your account settings.
The once forums and press releases forum has been moved to this location to better represent what the content there is really about. NEWS! The news and press release forum was never really a forum. It was a place to post all our press releases =o Well now we have a real news environment where you can find other related articles and content that has to do with that specific story. A better layout for the pages that truly makes you feel like you're in a web page that has to do with news articles.
My favorite part is the little icons: (I love little icons)
for articles and magazine articles
for news items
for podcasts and
for relevant blog entries
The news tag cloud on the home page of the news page also gives the ability to browse different categories of news and it shows you which ones have the most content by the size of the tag. At the bottom of each news article you'll also find tags that relate to that article that guides you to other possible news items.
The goal is to help you find more of what you're looking for in a simple manner.
Right now you can't navigate there from the main navigation bar but the domain is a couple clicks away. If you click on the news button you actually go to forums.creativecow.net which is an overview of many parts of the site including the news. If you click on any items in the news section there however it will take you to the new news subdomain.
The COW Blogs have recently come under the microscope and things are being developed to make them a more friendly place and more uniform to the rest of CreativeCOW.net.
There's been a lot of changes recently away from the Drupal system so I thought I might give you a heads up on some of the new features and the new look of the new and (we hope you agree) improved blog system.
Logging In: To log in to the blogs you only need to be logged into the CreativeCOW.net site. Do this by clicking on the SIGN IN button at the top of the screen. Or if you are at the blogs click on My COW Blog in the sub navigation bar.
Posting a Blog: To add a new blog entry click on the NEW ENTRY link found when you are logged in and in your COW blog. You can get to your blog by clicking on the My COW Blog link in the sub navigation bar.
Visibility: You can change the visibility of your COW Blogs to allow different people to see your different blog entries. Post to the public, your friends, CreativeCOW members, or save a draft so you can come back and edit your entry in the future. Using the Draft mode also allows you to preview your Blog without publishing it.
Unordered Listing: This list is built from using the new bulleted list formatting button next to the bold, italic, and underline buttons you should be familiar with from the main forums.
Personalized Blogs: Your Blog page is now more personalized with more of you and less of us showing of your blogs and what you are all about on each blog entry. Most the links on each blog will be to more about your blogs, such as the links to your blogs sorted by tags you've defined, and an archive of all your past blog entries sorted by year/month.
Personalized Tags: You can now define your own tags for each blog entry and comma separate them for more customized organization of your blog entries. Be careful, however, because only a limited number of character types are allowed in this field. I suggest using only a-z characters and spaces in this field with of course commas separating each tag.
Managing Your Blog: In your main COW Settings there is now a Blog tab where you can edit your blog settings. Change the title of your blog to anything you choose, Edit your email settings to be notified of comments on your blogs, or not. And edit your blog description.
Description Field is Powerful!: The description field can handle special html that will allow you to plug widgets into your blog. At this present time we are not supporting javascript but are allowing flash in this field as you may see by the widget in the right navigation bar. widgetbox.com has some powerful flash widgets that we support. You can promote many things, just about anything with an rss feed in fact.
Search Box: There's now a search engine for the blogs and you can search the blogs here's a few search examples to give you the idea:
Well now the blogs are becoming part of Creative COW!
As many of you have probably noticed changes have been happening all over as we upgrade our look and feel to become more universal throughout the site.
The Blogs have long been the red headed stepchild of CreativeCOW.net but no more! We are officially adopting them in and will begin to promote them more heavily throughout the site.
